History Of Gatanga Constituency

A Historical Overview

At independence, Gatanga Constituency was known as Kandara Constituency which was represented by the following Members of Parliament beginning with Hon. Bildad Kagia a former Kenya Freedom Fighter a member of the Kapenguria Six(6) Freedom Fighters.

In 1988, afew years after conception Kandara Constituency fast-forwarded into the front ranks of economic, social, and political entities in Kenya. With surging increase in population Kandara Constituency was divided into two, one of which was named Gatanga Constituency.

The following Members of Parliament have represented the Constituency;

In 2002, Kakuzi Division was added to the Constituency.

Unlike other Constituencies where the people cannot wait any longer for their elected officials, who refused to do the job of improving the living standards of their neglected constituents, Our Member of Parliament has led by example .He has been at the frontline for the Change and Development experienced in Gatanga Constituency. We hold our MP Hon. Peter Kenneth in High regard and wish him success in all his endeavors.
