Kirwara youth Polytechnic
The polytechnic former Kandara Industrial Development centre( I.C.D.C) The institution has already enrolled over 77 students for various training courses that are being offered there namely Motor vehicle mechanic Building Construction, Fashion/ Design, Hairdressing and other life supportive skills. The courses run for two years and are subjected to an examination from the Directorate of Industrial Training; D.I.T. The courses are:
- Motor vehicle mechanic with 28 boys and 2 girls
- Fashion/design with 3boys and 25 girls
- Building construction with 9 boys and no girls
- Hair dressing with 10 girls and no boys
There are a total of 7 instructors with four employed by the polytechnic and the others by the government. Currently it’s at its infancy and we hope by the end of the academic year we shall have fully equipped the institution and hence be able to admit more students
Kibaaka Youth Polytechnic
The institution was started in January, 2009 with the aim of offering vocational training. The institution has enrolled 78 students so far. Courses offered include:
- Motor vehicle mechanics,
- Carpentry joinery,
- Metal fabrication,
- Hair dressing,
- Information Communication Technology (ICT)
There are a total of 6 instructors with three employed by the polytechnic and the others by the government. The polytechnic is well equipped with modern facilities and equipment for learning. Ndunyu Chege Youth Polytechnic
The institution formerly known as Kandara community development centre is the oldest polytechnic in the constituency. The institution has enrolled 60 trainees so far. Courses offered include:
- Motor vehicle mechanics,
- Carpentry joinery,
- Metal work fabrication,
- Garment making
- Information Communication Technology (ICT).
There are a total of 7 instructors with five employed by the polytechnic and the others by the government. The polytechnic is fairly equipped with modern facilities and equipment for learning.
