Gatanga Constituency Website

The economic stimulus programme was proposed as a short to medium term high intensity, high impact programme aimed at jump starting the economy towards long term growth and development. It focused on sectors that will generate maximum benefit and create employment especially for the youth.Gatanga constituency benefitted from the following projects;

1. Fisheries development- Construction of 200 fishponds in the constituency- each pond was allocated kshs.40,000.00
2. Security - Construction of district headquarters at Gatanga shopping centre at kshs.30,000,000.00
3. Health

• Upgrading of Kigoro health centre to a modern health centre with a fully equipped maternity and children ward at a cost of kshs.20,000,000.00
• Employment of 20 nurses who have been deployed to the C.D.F funded dispensaries.

4. Local government – construction of a prototype fresh produce market  at Gatunyu  shopping centre costing kshs.10,000,000.00
5. Industrialization –

• construction of a jua kali shed  at Kiunyu Market at a cost of kshs.2,500,000.00
• Purchase welding and fabrication equipment at kshs.1,000,000.00

6. Education - Upgraded two primary schools(kshs.7,000,000.00)

• Gatunyu primary school
• Ngatho Primary school
• Upgrade of chomo secondary school to a center of excellence at kshs.30,000,000.00
